Golf in Murcia
La Manga Club is one of the finest golf resorts in Europe. Hotel Príncipe Felipe is surrounded by no less than 3(!) 18-hole golf courses. Many major tournaments have taken place here. It is very easily accessible. The resort is about a 30-minute drive from San Javier airport and about an hour and a half from Alicante airport.
De drie golfbanen van La Manga Club zijn zeer afwisselend en uitdagend. De North Course was designed by Robert Dean Putman in 1971. Here you will find many palm trees, lakes and canyons. The North Course is suitable for golfers of all skill levels. De South Course is considered one of the best courses in Spain. This course has the same designer, but it was redesigned in 2005 by none other than Arnold Palmer. De West Course was designed by Dave Thomas, also no stranger. The West Course is located in a unique setting: in a dense pine forest at the foot of the Calblanque Natural Park.
MAR MENOR GOLF
The first nine holes are designed by Dave Thomas, par 37, 3275 yards; they require good strokes to place the ball in the streets and the greens are protected by bunkers and lakes. The last nine holes are designed by Nicklaus Design, par 35, 2878 yards with wide streets; you will find a wide variety of designs in the last nine. A special mention deserves the "amen corner," a spectacular lake around holes 13, 14 and 15, created to overcome the biggest obstacle of water. The rest of the holes are strategically protected by bunkers. If you decide to play on this course, designed by two of the best golf designers, you will enjoy two different experiences on the same golf course.
SIGNATURE BY JACK NICKLAUS
The Alhama Signature Golf course at the Condado de Alhama Golf Resort is a true Nicklaus course. A long golf course with wide fairways and many greens defended by bunker sections. A large number of lakes (five in all) ensure that water hazards are often incorporated into play.
LA TORRE GOLF
La Torre is set in a landscape of more than five acres with carefully sculpted bunkers that help separate the holes, creating a very dramatic setting. Three large lakes come into play on six holes, and the golf course is complemented by lush landscaping, further enhancing both the golfing experience and the expansive views of the surrounding development.
Designed by Nicklaus Design, the La Torre Best Golf course offers 18 holes, par 68 and four tees off each hole. Preliminary distance: (white) 5,403 yards; (yellow) 4,981 yards; (blue) 4,507 yards; (red) 3,884 yards.
The course has more than five acres of elaborate bunkers that separate the holes and create strategic points, adding value to each shot. In addition, the thick grass around the bunkers gives the golfer the impression of hitting against a gust of wind. There will be three lakes to complete an exuberant landscape.
